Failaka Island, Kuwait

Failaka Island was invaded by Iraq in 1990. Much of it has been left in ruins. It is a 45 minute ride by catamaran from Kuwait City. Parts of it have been restored into a beautiful resort with bougainvillea and a pool. Some of us from running club climbed the matching mosque tower to the one above. No one seemed to be guarding it and the stairs were rickety, but we went up anyway. I am on the matching tower in the photo below. Probably the most elevation I have done in Kuwait.
