Punda, the old Dutch part of Curaçao
This part of Punda (the name comes from Punta in Spanish) was very crowded on Navy Day. The old Dutch architecture is from the 1700's. This same area is where the slave ships docked and shipping of goods took place for centuries.
This old 17th century cannon is on display by the floating bridge that one can walk over to Otrabanda (meaning the other side). When the big ships pass through the bridge opens. There is also a small ferry boat to take people across at any time. |
