Navy Ships and the High Bridge

On our 5 K Walk we went over the high bridge. There I could get photos one usually can't take as stopping on the bridge is not allowed.

Looking away from the bridge you see the entrance to Santa Anna Bay with the old Riffort (built in 1826) still standing guard. During WWII German Submarines were spotted from the fort, as written about in "The Cay" the  novel by Theodore Taylor. My class and our pen pals read this book this year.

These floating market boats are close by on a side canal in Punda. Vegetables and fruit have been sold here for years. The boats bring the produce over from Venezuela which is only about 50 miles away.
